A chance encounter

Was on the Minecraft seeds subreddit when I found what could be one of the greatest seeds ever found. Special thanks go to Plebiain and Seed Hunt for finding this.

It has many rare biomes within 2048 blocks of the world’s origin. There’s mega taiga, ice spikes, extreme hills, shattered savanna, a flower forest, and even a mushroom island. Hell, you even spawn near a bamboo jungle and some eroded badlands.

To make things even better, there are at least two of each structure, also within 2048 blocks of the origin. Igloos. Portals. Swamp huts. And, of course, mansions.

The seed is 1191961552361, and works with the last two updates. It should be roughly the same on Bedrock.

I think what makes the Nether Update so good is that Mojang really had a clear theme for what they wanted to do. They didn’t just add more content to the nether, they specifically wanted the make the nether a habitable space. As in, you can not just survive, but thrive. So, they added equivalents of wood and stone (removing the need to return to the overworld for simple crafting recipes) as well as more sources of food, and everything else you could need in life.

What I really love, though, is that there was a clear focus on making the nether have all the same sorts of ameneties as the overworld, but all slightly wrong. There’s a bed equivalent, but it’s expensive and needs to be refueled. The wood and stone equivalents I mentioned can only be found in specific areas, making those simple recipes a lot more challenging. There are animals that can be bred and farmed, but they’re also hostile to the player. There are sapient locals to trade with just like the villagers you’re used to, but they attack anyone they don’t like the look of and defend their homes with lethal force.

Instead of the nether being a nightmare landscape that only wants you dead, it now really feels like a bizarre alternate dimension— one where everything you know is flipped on its head and a lot more dangerous, but it’s not totally inhospitable.

Greetings from the END (plus redone nether!) I thought I’d add like grunge and stuff to make it look worn and old. Anyway what you guys think? Should I do biomes too?

cool, “no mining in our backyard”

so just out-source it to the global south?

——-

about half of the planet’s publicly listed mining companies are Canadian.

and about half of Canada’s mining assets are in the US and Latin America.

when is canada going to stop being the major mining force in Latin America? when is Canada going to stop being the force behind lithium mines in the Andes and cobalt mines in the Congo?

what of Indigenous resistance to fossil fuel pipelines in Canada?

again:

about half of the planet’s publicly listed mining companies are Canadian.

and about half of Canada’s mining assets are in the US and Latin America.

Canada is a fucking evil plague on the earth.

it is still absolutely

wild

to me that slime spawning rates in swamps is determined by the phase of the moon

Wait WHAT?

YUP

OH MY GOD

also about the moon! the fuller the moon is: the more likely mobs are to spawn with armour and weapons, for the armour and weapons to have enchantments, and for spiders to spawn with potion effects (this one is only on hard)

other lesser known minecraft facts off of the top of my head:

  • the highest distance you can fall without death is 22 blocks
  • cauldrons filled with water can undo dyed armour and shulker boxes, it also undoes the latest change made to a banner
  • fishing in the rain is more efficient
  • while fishing with a block anywhere above the bobber is less effient
  • the rain and snow textures only show on the edges of blocks
  • mobs dont spawn in mushroom biomes
  • sugar cane grows at the same speed on all the blocks it can be placed on
  • ghast noises are actually c418s cat
  • cauldrons slowly fill while its raining
  • when they are turned invisible you can still see the eyes of endermen and spiders
  • lily pads are always the same orientation on the same block
  • ice under soul sand is slower to walk on than soul sand
  • cobwebs on soul sand on ice is even slower
  • pushing a cake with a piston sends it straight into the void, youre never getting it back.
  • tripwires will trigger when you break them unless you break them with shears
  • slimes dont count as mobs while you are trying to sleep
  • sugarcane grows the same speed on all the blocks it can be placed on
  • rain hydrates farmland
  • the skull breaking particles are the same as soul sand
  • a fully charged bow does more damage than a (unenchanted) diamond sword
  • you can spectate the view of a painting in spectator mode
  • spectating creepers gives you pixelated green vision, spectating endermen gives you inverted colours, and spectating spiders give you multiple vision
  • a creepers fuse lasts 1.5 seconds
  • you can make a firework that fades from one colour to another by crafting an already coloured charge with another dye
  • the entire country of denmark was recreated 1:1 in minecraft, it eventually got broken into and vandalised and covered in american flags
  • pistons cant push chests
  • ocelots dont take fall damage
leviebleu
